Exercise for the Elderly Cancer Survivors
Yang Eun-Joo

Abstract
Older cancer survivors experience the combined deleterious effects associated with aging and a cancer diagnosis. In the entire cancer survivorship continuum (i.e., diagnosis to palliation), function and quality of life of cancer survivors is below that of age-matched individuals without a history of cancer. Direct effect such as injury to the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal system and indirect effects of cytotoxic therapy adversely impact the function of cancer survivors.
The purpose of the present paper is to review the effects of in older cancer survivors. There is compelling evidence of the benefits of exercise in cancer survivors in general and other older populations. We conclude that exercise is also benefit for the older cancer survivors even during treatment phase. Exercise adherence might be important factors for this population. Further studies are needed to guide clinical decisions about individualized exercise program in older cancer survivors.
